The Directorate General of Training & Research (Inland Revenue) briefly denoted as DOT is the only premier training institution for initial training of probationers of Income Tax Group. DOT also provides in-service training to officers and staff of the Income Tax department as well as to officers and staff of Customs & Excise group posted on Inland Revenue functions. The Organization is under direct control of Federal Board of Revenue, Government of Pakistan Islamabad. Besides principal office located in Lahore, two sub-offices of DOT are also functioning at the major cities of Karachi and Islamabad. It was way back in 1984, when the need for a purpose built campus was felt. Later, the then conceived idea was given reality in the shape of todayfs permanent campus for Directorate General of Income Tax [Training & Research], Lahore, Pakistan. The complex comprises of two main blocks, the old block & new block. Both these blocks are interlinked on a single computer network in order to provide PCs in each and every room in future. The old block consists of three portions, a double storied admin./academic block, centrally air-conditioned auditorium and a three storied hostel , comprising of thirty rooms for probationers. The ground floor of admin./academic block is used for offices of faculty and staff, whereas on second floor there are three class rooms and a conference room fully equipped with multi-media and other modern equipment for training. Two state of the art computer labs are also housed on this floor. New block consists of state of the art computer lab and two class rooms as well as a library and three syndicate rooms. This block is designed for training to international participants. The new block also has a hostel comprising of 4 suites and 24 rooms for international participants. The site provides adequate residential accommodation for directing and other staff. It has other on campus facilities such as a parking lot, lawns, gardens, play fields, roads and side walks etc. @ |
